Project & Finance

Our Beginning

Since its establishment in 1998, Mohammadia Center of Virginia has been dedicated to serving the diverse Shia community of the Washington Metropolitan area. Comprising professionals, lifelong residents, students, and business owners, our community consists of immigrants from Pakistan and India.

Initially, we rented banquet halls for our Muharram Majalis to cater to the Shia community of Northern Virginia. In 2005, we collaborated with the Imam Ali Center, extending our programs to include the Iranian, Afghan, and Iraqi communities. However, due to the expanding community at Imam Ali Center, challenges such as limited parking space and scheduling conflicts arose. Consequently, recognizing the growing demands of our community, the need for our own community center became imperative.

On August 26th, 2016, Mohammadia Center of Northern Virginia, Inc., with the blessings of Ahl Ul Bayt (AS), officially acquired a property at 4291 Prince William Parkway, Woodbridge, VA 22192. The acquisition was made possible through a combination of cash payments, donations, and Qarz e Hasna from community members. The property is registered under the name “MOHAMMADIA CENTER OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA, INC.”

Since obtaining the land, the Building Management Committee, formed by the Trustees of Mohammadia Center (MCV) and supported by the Board, has taken steps to secure building permits and repay Qarz e Hasna loans. Presently, the Center has obtained all necessary permits for the construction process. With the ongoing financial support of the community, coupled with the blessings of Allah and Ahl Ul Bayt (AS), the acquired land is free of debt and mortgage, and all pre-construction expenses are up to date and paid.

Now, more than ever, the center requires support for its construction phase, especially given the rising costs of labor and materials. The estimated construction cost is approximately four million dollars. Your continued support is crucial in making this vision a reality.
